Here will be post number 6:)
6-the doctors and midwives for my pregnancy
I know this doesn't matter to a lot of people, but it did to me since I was pregnant up here:)
I hated being pregnant up here because that meant I didn't get to have my wonderful doctor from Texas. He is amazing, but I'll get to the point if the doctors here.
Sure, I know there are a ton if pregnant women and I understand you get new patients all the time, but all I ever felt like was a number a folder. It was annoying. It's always a special time, and I was just bypassed. That was really why I left the first doctor I was seeing and went to the midwives. I for sure thought they would be more caring and supportive. At first visit, the lady I saw was. Unfortunately that was the first and last time I got to see her. The rest of the visits were very lousy. The nurses were the best part and I didn't even get to see them for that long. They never listened to me or took or assured my concerns. Even one time, I heard the midwife grab the doorknob of my exam door while she was still talking to her colleagues, and she said," oh this won't take long. I'll be outta this as quick as I can." Seriously? That's only a little rude. They never listened to my concerns about my platelet levels which was a big thing with my precious pregnancy. They didn't care much when I kept reiterating the fact that I do have my babies early. Well, lo and behold my baby came two and a half weeks early...just like two of my three other babies!!!! I KNOW what I am talking about! And when we went to the hospital, I hadn't "checked in" with my midwives before I went there which apparently was a big deal. My water had indeed broke. I definitely think I understand that one since I've had that happen twice before:P well, they didn't believe me and took their sweet time admitting me. All the while I am quite literally" wetting my pants" every 7 minutes. My pants were so soaked by the time I got to my room, I had to wrong them out. Then, when the nurse comes in, she scolds me slightly that I needed to check with my midwife before I can here to indeed see if it was my water and not pee. I have always been told to go straight to the hospital because my labors are fast. Ugh. So annoying! Maybe if the midwives had believed that I have my babies early they would've taken the time to review that information with me about checking with them before the hospital. So so annoying. I severely missed my doctor back home:( he would've taken care of everything.:(
Oh well, live and learn and if you ever want to have another baby, for goodness sakes have one where you seriously know the doctor and the practice. Even if you have to fly home, it would be totally worth it:)
